ERD

ERD

Curious to know what it is?
Hint: something related to the monster called exam !
Any guesses for this million dollar discovery?...no? hmmm…..
Its ok…it happens.

The name ERD was coined by me in my 3rd semester of MBA. ERD stands for Exam Related Disorder! After 11 semesters I found out a name for my disorder..finally…phew!
My friends incessantly complain that I am a different person in and around exam time. According to them during the run up to the exams I go mute or to be more specific I go into the “no comments” mode! They say during those days I don’t exist!

A humble request to the readers. After reading the above lines please don’t assume me to be a book worm or a geek. Though I enjoy reading books, not course books of course! I have never been a topper in my academics barring one stray incident. But as they say, exceptions are always there!

Its said that you are known by the company you keep which in turn elevates your performance. Fortunately or unfortunately I have always been surrounded by aces. But still my performance have always been average. Hey its not easy to maintain a consistent average performance throughout!

ERD strikes me around 15 days prior to exams. That time I get a jolt from the blue…helloo…WAKE UP YOU NUT! ….post that wake up call my ordeal begins. I search for the syllabus, find my books then try to decode the complex 3 inch thick books. To make matters worst there are some super book worms who mug the entire semester and during exams disturb hapless creatures like me! I HATE THEM. Such category of students have a trademark dialogue, “I havnt prepared anything”. Gosh! That sucks! Its written large on their face that they have mugged everything and effortlessly puke that into their answer sheets. On a second thought, mugging is also an art, not all can master it.

Symptoms of ERD are quite interesting. Though I am surrounded by books my mind is busy making post exams plan. Books become pillows and bed suddenly looks so inviting. Frequency of breaks increases. Hunger and sleep also increases proportionately. And finally just a day before the exams, I wish “kaash ek aur din mil gaya hota….!”

The current situation is that I am just 11days away from the last set of exams of my life. No marks for guessing but ERD has struck!

  1. Hi.
    Nice post,
Thanks for starting a count down, Uhhh ERD strucked..
    I am still sleeping...

Even i feel the same symptoms at exam times but for me real ERD starts 5-6 days before exams and in internals one day before exams.

Sleep, food and water frequency really increases and yes very rightly said the bed really becomes inviting and its hard to remain awaken these days.. i guess this happens to all students at exam time...

In my mind two counter runs, 1st the exam days and the second for last day of exam i.e vacations.

    Best of luck for exams...
